I am an assistant researcher at IPMA (Instituto Português do Mar e Atmosfera). After completing my PhD on Marine Biology in 2009, I was a postdoctoral researcher at FCUL and Agrocampus Ouest until 2013 and an Assistant Researcher at FCUL until 2017.
Currently I am involved in assessing the state of marine fisheries resources and ecosystems, which is essential information for attaining their sustainable exploration. In addition I am especially interested in (1) assessing and modelling global to local drivers of biodiversity, (2) exploring the links between biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and services, (3) determining the effects of human activities on aquatic ecosystems, and (4) estimating the value of coastal habitats for exploited species and measuring population connectivity.
My work focuses on marine and estuarine ecosystems, principally on fishes.
