Rita-Marie Lawlor is a photographer and award winning filmmaker from Dublin, Ireland. Her work ranges from fashion, sports, film stills,
music, alternative and portraits. She is Royal Photographic Society (London) accredited after she was awarded distinctions for her portfolio's.
 
She began her studies within the media in 1996 when she was awarded distinctions in music theory from Victoria college of music, London. As part of her music training she learned piano, guitar and was the drummer in two bands - hailing from a family of drummers. She later received various certificates in performing arts between '96 -'98 - for dramatic performances which were performed in both Dublin and London. She went on to write plays for radio and for a brief time went on to teach drama to children and adults after she was awarded a guildhall diploma in theatre studies from Inchicore college Dublin.

While working on many films sets in between, whether it be acting/extra/ or stills photographer, she went on to study photography and film production full time for three years and later graduating in 2004 with a B TEC HND in Film Production along with a best film award. She was principal photographer from 2004-2006 with Movie Extras.

Although her photography work mainly consists of sports - rugby union in particular, her work has appeared on numerous sites and in newspapers.  
Photography on this site features Autumn Internationals 2006, 2008 and 2009, Six Nations 2009, Heineken Cup,Guinness Premiership UK and Magners League - all spanning from 2005 to date. Rugby testimonials are also featured as well as American Football and Martial Arts tournaments, soccer, along with gigs of some well known bands and fashion shows, actors, film stills, and portraits.
 
Rita-Marie's script "I Shagged Ronaldo!" made it to the finals of the 2009 Waterford film festival short screenplay competition, which later went on to be filmed on April 6th 2010. The film was entirely shot in one location - Lillies Bordello on Dublin's Grafton Street and the duration of the shoot was just over twelve hours. It was premiered at the Underground Cinema in July 2010. Selected to do the Underground roadshow as well as screen at the Underground Film festival in September 2010. The film's leading actress Melissa Nolan was nominated for best actress at the Underground Cinema awards 2010 and the film was widely appreciated at the Waterford Film Festival and the Corona Cork Film Festival 2010. It is due to screen on TVS Sydney Australia in 2011.

She is currently in production with a TV pilot called "The Arts Journal" which begins shooting on the 20th of Feb 2010 for three days. Locations are  in Trim, Co. Meath and Dublin. Episode One "Stranger Than Fiction" is written by Rita-Marie, directed by Noel Farrell - they are also the producers of the show. Rita-Marie will also be playing the part of the shows presenter - Zoe Carter. There are further episodes written.

She worked as locations manager and stills photographer on a new indie low budget feature film "Portrait Of A Zombie" a black comedy
set on the Northside of Dublin, she also plays the part of a quirky vegetarian. Release date - 2010.

Apollo Music Club will screen at the Underground Cinema Dun Laoghaire on Friday April 9th 2010 at 8pm.
 
With a B TEC HND in film production Rita-Marie made her debut feature film Apollo Music Club in 2007. it has had two screenings in Ireland so far, once at it's premier and also at the Waterford film festival 2008.
It was originally made into a 40 minute TV pilot in 2006, but after failing to attract TV producers she decided to re-write 475 pages of a six part drama series into a single 120 film script. On the third draft and ten months in prep it was ready to go ahead on a tiny budget.

Rita-Marie is a peaceful animal rights activist and is a member of Animal Rights Action Network - www.aran.ie
She campaigns and organisies/co-organises peaceful demo's against the Canadian Seal hunt, the fur trade, fox hunting,
animal experiments, animals in circuses, hare coursing and all blood 'sports' and many more. She has been a strict vegetarian for twenty years.
There will be blogs posted on this site on any updates regarding the campaigns and there's also a pics section.
 
She is also keen on martial arts and has a blue belt in the Korean martial art - Tae Kwon Do where she trained
for four years. She also practiced T'ai Chi for a year and practices Yoga - three styles - hatha, Iyengar and Ashtanga.
She now takes part in aerobic kickboxing!.
Rita-Marie also has certificates in psychology/criminology and forenzic psychology after she studied it in 2005.
She enjoys playing guitar, writing, reading biographies, cheering on the Dubs in Gaelic football as well as Leinster and Leicester Tigers when it comes to rugby.
