The Hudson Valley Humane Society Visiting Pet Program now offers R.E.A.D. training workshops for anyone interested in learning more about this effective literacy program. If you would like more information about how to participate in the R.E.A.D. program, click here or send an e-mail to:

Did you know that Delta Society has 155 Pet Partner teams that have animal partners other than a dog or cat? In fact, there are a great many species that make wonderful visiting animals and can form a strong human-animal bond. Examples of registered Pet Partners, such as Outlaw pictured below, include:

Rabbits - currently 37 teams
Domesticated rats - currently 2 teams
Horses - currently 68 teams!
Chinchillas - currently 1 team
Llamas - currently 4 teams
Donkeys - currently 6 teams 
Potbellied pigs - currently 2 teams
Cockatoos - currently 6 teams
African Gray Parrots - currently 1 team
Chickens - currently 4 teams

If you don't have a dog, but have another kind of animal that you think would make a good therapy animal, please sign up for one of our classes! 

NOTE: Wild or exotic animals (e.g., snakes, ferrets, lizards) may not be Pet Partners.
