What's happening at Rio Norte!

posted 13 May 2015, 07:40 by Jase St Peter

We have just a few things happening this week at Rio!

Parent Survey:

We are asking parents to give us feedback on how we are doing!  Each year, a team comprised of staff members, parents and students works to write school goals and a school plan based on data collected.  We would love your input in the process this year!  Please complete this form by Saturday, May 16th:  http://goo.gl/forms/onr9P6m4O1

Yearbooks:

Friday, May 15th is the deadline for pre-purchasing a yearbook.  We will not sell any pre-purchased yearbooks after that date.  On the day of distribution, students will be able to pay cash to purchase a yearbook, but quantities will eb limited, so we recommend getting your order in now!  Yearbooks can be purchased at the ASB Window for $60, they will be $65 the day of distribution.  If your child is not sure whether they purchased a yearbook, their homeroom teacher has the list.

Spring Concerts:

Tonight (May 13th) we will be enjoying the music from our Concert Band and Tuesday, May 19th Concert Choir will be entertaining us!  We hope you are able to join us for their last concerts of the year!  Both concerts begin at 7:00 p.m.

Last note, we have wrapped up CAASPP Testing for English, and the Computer Adaptive part of the Math Test.  In addition our 8th Grade students have completed the CST for Science.  Today we begin the Classroom Activity for the Math Performance Task, which will go through May 22nd.

Your children have done an amazing job of working diligently throughout the testing time, and we are very appreciative!  Please remember you can see the practice test online at this website:  CAASPP Practice Test

We also recommend that your child practice typing, as they have to do quite a bit of it on the test.  A great website for that is www.freetypinggame.net

6th Grade Jamboree

posted 31 Mar 2015, 11:20 by Jase St Peter

I have attached the flier for 6th Grade Jamboree as a reminder of tonight's event.  The Jamboree is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  We will begin the evening in the quad with a welcome on the outdoor stage.

Food trucks will be on campus with dinner available for purchase throughout the evening, beginning at 4:30 p.m.  The trucks we have coming are The Fry Fry Truck, The Patty Wagon, and Shave It.

Following 6th Grade Jamboree, students will be able to select their top three choices for Electives on our website:

https://sites.google.com/site/rionortejhs/promotion

Please remember that all of our Elective offerings are designed to introduce students to the subject, and inspire them to explore new and different areas of interest. We will do our best to get your child at least one of his or her top choices, either first or second semester.  You have until April 15th to submit your selections; please do not feel rushed, as students ARE NOT placed on a first come first served basis.

We look forward to seeing everyone tonight at this fun and informational event!
