Teacher Grants


RIMTA Summer Professional Development Grants: RIMTA will award as many as FIVE $250 grants to RIMTA members to be used towards registration for one of three professional development opportunities this summer.   APPLICATIONS DUE JUNE 4.
Eligible professional development opportunities are:
  • ·         Summer Math Institute  at Lesley University  - “Problem Solving Using the Structure of Mathematics” geared for educators of middle and secondary school mathematics.  Tuesday, July 29, 2014 through Thursday, July 31, 2014, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • ·         Greg Tang’s MATH PLUS Conference – Boston MA for K-2 and 3-5, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 through Thursday, July 31, 2014
  • ·         NCTM Interactive Institutes –
    • Connecting Number and Operations for K-2 and 3-5, San Diego CA July 10-12
    • *  Algebra Readiness for Grades 6-8, San Diego CA, July 7-9
    • *   Engaging Students in Learning for Grades 9-12, Chicago, IL July 31- August 2

RIMTA SUMMER TEACHER GRANTS:  RIMTA will award grants up to $250 to math teachers of any grade level.  The award money is to be used to support new, high impact ideas (not existing projects within the classroom) to support best teaching practices.  It is expected that grant recipients will share a brief description of their projects and project outcomes with other RIMTA members in the RIMTA Newsletter and at a future RIMTA meeting.  Applications must be received electronically no later than August 1st.  Please send to:    Lynn Prentiss – Chair, RIMTA Awards and Grants,  e-mail:  lpiq18@gmail.com
