Ricky K. P. Mok (莫嘉沛)
Ph.D. (HKPU), BEng (CUHK), DipABRSM
About me
I am currently an associate research scientist in CAIDA/UC San Diego. I received my Ph.D. (Computer Science) from the Department of Computing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and B.Eng. (Major in Computer Engineering, minor in Spanish) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016 and 2009, respectively. My research interest includes network measurement, Internet data science, cyber-security, HTTP streaming system, quality of experience (QoE) measurement, and reliable crowdsourcing-based QoE assessment methods.
During my leisure time, I play cello and brew good cups of coffee. Before joining CAIDA, I was the principal cello of the Hong Kong City Chinese Music Orchestra and the conductor of Tune of Pandora. I am a holder of DipABRSM in performance (cello), and City & Guilds International Award in Barista Skills.
My family currently has two rescue dogs from South Korea supervised by a Mini Rex bunny. Welcome to follow their them on Facebook.
CAIDA is looking for visiting Ph.D. students, UCSD CSE graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars on the topic of network measurements, cyber-security, Internet data analytics, and 5G measurements (see CAIDA's funding and projects page for more details). If you are interested to join us, please feel free to send me an email. For UCSD undergraduate students, you can find and apply our REU job cards posted on UCSD Handshake.
