ITW invitation

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note/reminder to invite you all to come see Theatre Wakefield's production of Into The Woods. The show opens tomorrow night at the Wakefield community centre (Centre Wakefield La Pêche) in a nice, big, modern performance auditorium in a beautiful woodsy setting.

If you've never seen or heard of Into The Woods, you're in for a treat: it's a classic Stephen Sondheim musical that appeared on Broadway in the 1980s for several years and that weaves together—in comedic, dramatic, touching, and sometimes shocking ways—the stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and Rapunzel, among others. (Note that this isn't a show for young kids, though.) And if you happened to see the somewhat recent Disney movie version of Into The Woods, let me just say that I don't think it at all captures the magic of a live (and original/unchanged) stage production.

Tickets are $23.00 each; this is a non-profit community theatre production, so all proceeds go towards covering costs—mostly the licensing rights to the musical/play. (Cast and crew are all unpaid volunteers.) Tickets can be purchased online via: https://www.centrewakefieldlapeche.ca/event-2502427

We're doing six shows; the schedule is as follows:

I would recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to showtime. There are two acts with a 15-20 minute intermission between them.

If you've never been, Wakefield is a very quaint historical settlement on the Gatieneau River surrounded by natural geographical beauty—a village that's all green space, basically. There's a very popular pub called the Black Sheep and some nice restaurants including Nikosi, Maison du Village, and Le Hibou. It's a touristy, artsy, bohemian kind of vibe, there, and just 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa; map: https://goo.gl/maps/4REn2iRGJxN2
