Duck Creek Station Live Show "A Celebration Of Texas Singer Song-writers"
You can describe Rickey Gene Wright & Duck Creek Station's music as Americana blending Roots, Texas Country, Folk, Bluegrass and Acoustic Blues. Truly an acoustic crossover music genre that would please any crowd. They are known for their songwriting, tight harmony singing, professional acoustic instrument and keyboard styles, audience communication and for singing the songs of their fellow Texas singer song-writer's like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Lyle Lovett.
They sound like they were influenced by Guy Clark's storytelling songs but with an added influence of the sweet harmonies found in those Emmylou Harris duets. Being native Texans they were also influenced by the songs of their fellow Texas song-writers like Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, Bob McDill, Steve Fromholz, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Kris Kristofferson, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earl, Michael Martin Murphey, Robert Earl Keen , Lyle Lovett, Don Henley, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, Rodney Crowell, Radney Foster and Pat Green.
Their signature sound is an acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica and accordion with that tightly woven harmony sung by Rickey Gene Wright and Denise Owen. They also have a very unique sound when their Rickey Gene Wright plays his mandolin and mixes in a six-string banjo on occasional songs. They also mix in electric and acoustic lead guitar, some alternate keyboard styles of a cello and a pan flute. In the fall of 2014 Richie Owen joined the band and is playing his great grandfathers upright bass. That lucky singer song-writer who gets to sing his original songs in this band is Rickey Gene Wright. He is a registered BMI song-writer and composer and a member of the Americana Music Association. This band concentrates on original music but, you have to hear their signature style and their new arrangements of those Americana cover tunes like, "Wayfaring Stranger", "Magnolia Wind", "If I Needed You". They have a unique and fresh choice of cover songs performed with their own signature sound blended with original song-writing, storytelling, and musicianship.
