Welcome to the online home of the the Rice Equestrian team! We are a club sport at Rice University that was founded in 2003.

We are always looking for new riders, and accept riders of all experience levels - including complete beginners! So if you've never even seen a horse, or if you grew up around them, you are quite welcome to join.

Most riders choose to take weekly lessons with our instructor Cathy Strobel at Southern Breeze Equitation Center. Lessons cost $40-45 and are taught in hunter jumper. If you'd like to ride Western, that can be arranged as well.

You do not need to have your own tack, but you do need to wear appropriate clothing (long pants, heeled boots) and an approved helmet. You do not have to have your own horse to ride with us.

We compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 7, Region 2. Although you are encouraged to try, you do not have to compete to join the club.

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please feel free to contact us.

Would you like to know more about the club and get more information?

To sign up to ride for the 2009-2010 school year, or to stay informed, e-mail us and we'll add you to the listserv. We'll be starting practice very soon!
