RHS Summer Bridge '08

a compilation of work created by students from the class of 2012

The Summer Bridge program at Richmond High School is designed to help incoming ninth grade students transition to the high school way of life. Students spend their day taking English and Algebra classes and partaking in team building activities, all while earning ten units of elective credits that will give them a head start towards achieving their high school diploma. With an emphasis on academic achievement, college going culture, and cooperative learning, students gain access to ideas and skills that will set them up for life long learning and success.

For most of the students involved with this project, this was not only a first exposure to web-based learning, it was their first opportunity to publish their own writing, an important and integral part of the writing process, as it genuinely connects student-writers to a world outside of their immediate community. This collection of work serves as a kind of online portfolio, one in which students can take great pride and use to carry them forward through their high school years.
