Annual Town-wide Yard Sale
RCHG held the 15th annual town-wide yard sale on May 20, 2017. We greatly appreciate those participants who provided 10% of there earnings to RHCG to help support our other activities. We look for additional yard sale holders next year.
Rocky Hill Remembers
Generations have grown up and remained in Rocky Hill. Our little town has a past worth recalling and preserving. The RHCG hosted several respected senior residents for an afternoon on reminiscing on April 22, 2017. Thanks to our speakers and all those who attended!
Spring Egg Hunt
Young and old came on April 15, 2017 to enjoy a beautiful early Spring morning behind Rocky Hill's Borough Hall and participant in the ultimate hunt! Joined by Peter Rabbit and others, those hunting for their egg-shaped prizes had an exciting and fun-filled time. Thanks to the many volunteers and community members who helped make the event a success.
Holiday Party and Tree Lighting
The annual RHCG Holiday Party and Tree Lighting was held on December 4, 2016. What a treat! Nearly 100 neighbors and friends gathered for an evening of fun, festivity and refreshments. The tree lighting, caroling, a visit from Santa Claus, and games and crafts for the children helped create a magical event. A big thank you to all those who helped -- our volunteers, donors and sponsors, Rocky Hill Hook and Ladder Company Number 1, Trinity Church choir and Montgomery High School musicians. Weekend Journey Through the Past
On October 8 and 9, 2016, the Amy Garrett House, home of the Rocky Hill Community Group, was one of 26 sites participating in Somerset County’s Cultural and Heritage Commission’s “Weekend Journey Through the Past”. Over 100 participants viewed the Rocky Hill Archives, enjoyed a walking tour of Rocky Hill's Historic District, and learned about the historic Amy Garrett House and Rocky Hill.
Rocky Hill Community Art Sale
The fourth annual Rocky Hill Community Art Sale was held on September 17, 2016 at the Amy Garrett House. A beautiful day attracted local residents to view and purchase watercolor and oil paintings, jewelry, photography and ceramics. A portion of the sales help to support the activities of Rocky Hill Community Group. Thank you to those who supported our local artisans and RHCG!
Rocky Hill Day Potluck Picnic and Parade
The Independence Day celebration came early, on Saturday, June 25, 2016 with a parade from the Firehouse through the heart of the historic district. A pot-luck picnic with ice cream was held afterwards behind Borough Hall. A terrific day to celebrate Rocky Hill and our freedom in the United States!

Volunteers included the Engleka Family; Bremner Family; Jill and Ellie Cook; Alyssa, Paul and Janine LaCava; Marj Yuschak; Nancy Lucas; Bob Ashbaugh and Jennifer Donahue. RHCG Presents Borough Council with Art Print
On December 7, 2015, the Rocky Hill Community Group’s Trustees presented Borough Council with a framed print, “Rocky Hill Community Group Celebrates Our Community”, created by resident and RHCG Trustee Robert Ashbaugh, in appreciation of Council’s support and partnership. The photo collage features images of our historic and picturesque community.
Holiday Party and Tree Lighting
The sights and sounds of the holidays came alive at the Annual Holiday Party and Tree Lighting, held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the historic Amy Garrett House. Over 100 Rocky Hill, Montgomery and Franklin Township residents came together to celebrate. A special thanks to all those who donated their time, and to the local eateries that provided refreshments for the event.
Journey Through the Past Weekend
The Amy Garrett House was one of 30 historic sites open county-wide on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2015 as part of Somerset County's "Journey Through the Past Weekend" event. Over 120 Rocky Hill and neighboring community residents viewed the Rocky Hill Archives, took walking tours of the Historic District, and learned more about the historic Amy Garrett House, one of the oldest surviving structure in our town. Check out the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission's website for additional information on the event.
Rocky Hill Community Art Sale
On September 12-13, 2015 over 16 Rocky Hill based and local artists displayed and sold their work, with proceeds benefiting the artists and Rocky Hill Community Group. Look for this annual event to be held next September. Please contact us if you have interest in being a vendor in 2016.
Annual July 4th and 125th Anniversary Parade and Picnic
Rocky Hill’s Annual Parade and Picnic was extra special this year. It is our 125th birthday and a great day to have a party! Over 200 Rocky Hill residents and friends attended the events on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The Parade begins at the firehouse and proceeded down Washington Street to Borough Hall. Music by the Blawenburg Dixieland Band filled the air. Food and drinks courtesy of the Borough and generous local establishments were provided. Rides, face painting, games and other fun activities for the kids were enjoyed. Thanks to all who attended, volunteered and sponsored the event!
Town-Wide Yard Sale
Nothing like the excitement of a yard sale! Thank you to all the participants of the Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale held on May 9, 2015. A special shout-out to the families who donated a portion of their profits to support the Rocky Hill Community Group: Bachrach, Bewtra, Catanese, Cerra, Cook, Delahoy, Ewing, Hodgeman/Rooney, Kartsonis, Kelsey, Paik, Mencher/Illich, Shearn, and Yuschak. We greatly appreciate it!
Earth Day Cleanup
Thanks to all who volunteered on April 18, 2015 to clean up around Borough Hall and the Green Acres fields. We appreciate your commitment to a cleaner, greener and beautiful Rocky Hill! We encourage others to plant trees and flowers, clean up roadside trash, and help to maintain our community.
Spring Egg Hunt
The Rocky Hill Community Group's Annual Spring Egg Hunt was held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 behind Rocky Hill Borough Hall. We had terrific weather and a great turnout -- 114 children participated! Thank you to all who participated and those who volunteered to make this fun family community event possible. Oh, what fun!
Holiday Party and Tree Lighting
The Annual Rocky Hill Community Group Holiday Party and Tree Lighting was held on Sunday, December 7, 2014. A new fir tree, donated by Madden Family Farms, planted this fall in the front lawn was strung with lights. Santa Claus visited with the children. Everyone -- young and old -- enjoyed some refreshments and repartee, music from members of the First Reformed Church choir, and the tree lighting. A special thanks to all those who donated their time, and to the local eateries that provided refreshments for the event.
"The History of the Rocky Hill Archives" Lecture
On November 15, 2014, archivist and intern Sean Ferguson, a student volunteer from Vassar College, provided a fascinating presentation on The Rocky Hill Archives. These extensive archives, managed and maintained by RHCG, tell the story of the town and people of Rocky Hill. Sixty-four fans of local history attended and participated in a question and answer session following the formal presentation. Please contact us if you have interest in The Archives, or in volunteering to assist us with this project.
