Help Organize or Volunteer at an Event

Game Fair (Ramsey, MN)
Dates: August 11-13 and August 18-20

What’s Game Fair? Game fair is an annual sporting event attended by folks from all over Minnesota. The RGS Twin Cities chapter has a booth set up where we sell raffle tickets and discuss all things ruffed grouse with attendees.

How can I help? The booth is manned by volunteers and members of our board. Contact Dave Kufahl (dakufahl@gmail.com) to sign up.

Time Commitment?  Volunteers typically take one or two (4) hour shifts.

RGS Twin Cities Banquet (Brooklyn Center, MN)
Date: August 23

What’s Banquet? The RGS Twin Cities Chapter organizes an annual banquet (dinner, games and camaraderie) to raise money for ruffed grouse habitat. Our banquet is one of the top grossing RGS events in the country.

How can I help? We can use all the help we can get the night of the banquet to ensure the event runs as smooth as possible. Volunteer opportunities include helping with set up, selling raffle tickets, running a game table, among many others. Contact Chapter President Terry Lydell (Terrylydell@qualityci.us) for more information.

Time Commitment? 3-4 hours the evening of the event

Can’t help out with these? We’re always drumming up new opportunities for volunteers!

Help to organize an event in 2018

Along with Banquet and Game Fair, our chapter organizes shotgun skills events, on-the-ground habitat work on public lands, and “woodcock watches” every year. Contact Brandon Helm (bthelm@gmail.com) if you’re interested in helping organize one of these events.

Policy expertise? Help our chapter engage in policy and legislation that affects forest habitat.

We’re looking for a volunteer to help the chapter track and engage in legislation and agency policy that affect ruffed grouse. This would be a great opportunity for any policy wonks out there (aspiring or seasoned experts) looking to apply their skills to a good cause. Contact Brandon Helm (bthelm@gmail.com) for more information.

Communications/Marketing/Local Corporate Support

We’re also looking for volunteers or new board members to help the chapter better communicate with our members as well as help make fundraising connections with local businesses. Contact Mike Vant (mjvant@gmail.com) for more information.
