Darryl Sittler scored three goals, including his 300th career RHL goal, and received a standing ovation from the Maple Leaf Garden faithful. However, that wasn't enough as Edmonton wound up skating away with a 5-3 victory over Toronto. Kent Nilsson led the way for the Oilers (11-11-4) with a goal and an assist. Lanny McDonald had three assists for the Leafs (8-17-3).

6 shots for Toronto. Others registering goals were KENT NILSSON, LEE FOGOLIN,
DAVE HUNTER, STAN WEIR and ED KEA for Edmonton. With the road victory
Edmonton has now recorded 8 wins and 18 points for the season.

The Penguins continue to revamp their roster, trading a 4th round pick to the Rangers for Steve Baker and Paul MacLean to the Jets for Moe Mantha. Both of those deals take effect Month 3.
Dave Taylor's "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" helped the Kings beat the Flyers 5-2.
Steve Tambellini scored with 1:51 left to put the Whalers past the Bruins 3-2.
