Wilf Paiement sets an RHL record with five goals in one game as the Islanders crush the Sabres 9-3 at the Nassau Coliseum. Paiement now leads the RHL with 28 goals. Denis Potvin and Billy Harris also scored two goals each for New York (26-13-3). Gilbert Perreault, Jim Schoenfeld, and Craig Ramsey scored for Buffalo (19-14-3).

In their home arena the Islanders pounded the Sabres by a final score
of 9 to 3. New York got going early, scoring 3 times in the first period.
WILF PAIEMENT was spectacular, scoring 5 goals, once while shorthanded,
on 10 shots for New York. And DENIS POTVIN found the net twice. Also
BILLY HARRIS had two goals and added one assist. Other goal scorers were
GILBERT PERREAULT, CRAIG RAMSAY and JIM SCHOENFELD for Buffalo.
In other RHL action:
The Flyers and Bruins combine for 71 penalty minutes in a 2-2 tie.
Steve Jensen and Ernie Hicke each score hat tricks in the North Stars' 8-6 win over the Blackhawks.
