Greg Gilbert scored twice for the Islanders in their 6-2 victory over the Sabres at Nassau Coliseum. Dan Quinn and Mike Bossy each had a goal and an assist for New York (67-8-3), while Kelly Hrudey made 38 saves in a rare goaltending start. Dave Andreychuk and Mike Foligno were the goal scorers for Buffalo (33-29-9). With the win, the Islanders set a new RHL record for most points in a regular season.
