At the Montreal Forum, Steve Shutt registered a hat trick in the Canadiens' 6-4 win over the North Stars. Jacques Lemaire added 2 goals and an assist for Montreal (29-7-9). Tim Young and Dean Talafous each had a goal and an assist for Minnesota (14-30-2).

GAME STORY
In a close game, the Canadiens topped the North Stars by the final tally
of 6 to 4. Montreal scored 3 goals in the second period. STEVE SHUTT
was dominating, he went for the hat-trick for Montreal. And YVAN COURNOYER
recorded four assists. Also JACQUES LEMAIRE found the net twice on 6
shots and passed for one assist. Other goal scorers were TIM YOUNG, GLEN
SHARPLEY, ALEX PIRUS and DEAN TALAFOUS for Minnesota and BOB GAINEY for
Montreal.
In other RHL News:
Butch Goring had 2 goals and 2 assists in the Kings' 8-2 whitewash over the Canucks.
Phil Esposito netted a hat trick as the Rangers dominated the Penguins 6-2.
The Penguins were active on the trade front, sending Pierre Larouche to the Canadiens for Pete Mahovlich and the Habs' 2nd round pick in next season's draft. The Pens also traded Syl Apps to the Kings for a 3rd round draft pick. (Both effective Month 4)
The Kings were not done making roster moves (effective Month 4), trading Bob Sirois to the Blackhawks for Randy Manery and Curt Ridley to the Rangers for Pete Stemkowski.
