Chico Resch stopped 40 of 41 shots in the Islanders' 2-1 victory over the Blackhawks at Chicago Stadium. John Tonelli registered the game-winning goal for New York (33-19-7). Bob Hess had the lone goal for Chicago (23-25-11).

GAME STORY
The visiting team from New York squeezed out a victory over the Black
Hawks by a final tally of 2 to 1. Chicago was unable to get their power
play going and finished 0 for 6 with the extra man. JOHN TONELLI scored
the game's final goal at 11:21 of the 3rd period. GLENN RESCH was outstanding
in goal. He made just one mistake while facing 41 shots. Others who scored
were CLARK GILLIES for New York and BOB HESS for Chicago.
