The purpose of the Rewind Hockey League (RHL) is to replay NHL hockey seasons using the Strat-O-Matic computer hockey game, starting with the 1974-75 season. The RHL will attempt to maintain a certain amount of the integrity of the actual franchise rosters through those years, while at the same time allow owners the flexibility to manipulate their team through trades and yearly free agent drafts. The RHL is designed for owners who may be fans of a single club, and want to experience both the high and low points that their favorite team went through in the past. For the league's inaugural season, each owner selected a team and received the most prevalent players on that team for the 1974-75 season. They will automatically receive all future rookies (non computer-only) for their teams. Four more teams joined the RHL for the 1979-80 season. We are currently playing the 1984-85 season.

Edmonton has sole possession of best record in the league after Month 3 with 77 points, five ahead of the Islanders. Quebec and Minnesota are the other division leaders. Philadelphia (65 points) and Los Angeles (58 points) are emerging as teams with the chance to go on deep playoff runs. Wayne Gretzky (EDM) is cruising in the scoring race with 31 goals and 97 assists. His 128 points are 30 points ahead of teammate Jari Kurri. One reason for the Flyers' success is the play of goalie Pelle Lindbergh (25-10-4, 3.02 GAA, .907 save percentage).
Mario Tremblay registered a hat trick, including two goals in the third period, as the Penguins came from behind to defeat the Bruins 5-4 at the Civic Arena. Mario Lemieux assisted on all of Tremblay's goals for Pittsburgh (24-21-3). Kelly Kisio and Ray Bourque had a goal and an assist each for Boston (12-31-5).
The Canucks scored four times in the first nine minutes of the third period to tie the Blackhawks 4-4 at the Pacific Coliseum. Thomas Gradin netted the tying goal for Vancouver (10-23-7). Patrik Sundstrom added two assists for the Canucks. Denis Savard scored twice for Chicago (14-20-2).
The Islanders and Oilers, not surprisingly, are leading the pack after two months of the season, with each team leading their respective divisions with 48 points. In the Norris, the North Stars hold a two-point lead over the Sabres and a five-point lead over the Blackhawks. Meanwhile, the Whalers are the talk of the Adams Division, leading the Nordiques by three points. Hartford made a move to hold on to its lead, acquiring Eddy Beers from the Islanders for a 4th-round draft pick.
The Sabres scored three goals in the first period against the Jets at the Winnipeg Arena, but they only needed one. Tom Barrasso stopped all 37 shots that he faced in Buffalo's 3-0 victory. The goal scorers for the Sabres (8-10-4) were Dennis Maruk, Ken Linseman, and Craig Ramsay. The best scoring chance Winnipeg (15-11-3) had was a shot form the slot by Dale Hawercuk early in the second period that Barrasso turned aside.
