RYSA supports a development/rep soccer program structure where players can be involved in the game at a technical degree that is beyond the regular house program. The objective of the development/rep program is to encourage further skill development within a positive and challenging teaching environment.
Providing that coaches and players are available, RYSA’s goal is to:
Support the eight a side, small field development opportunities at the
U11, U12 age level.
Support the full sided, large field, competitive REP program with a combination of
RELATIONSHIP TO HOUSE LEAGUE PROGRAM
To ensure that a regular house program continues to be provided for as many Revelstoke youth as possible, RYSA’s policy is to determine on a yearly basis age groupings for house and developmental /rep teams.
For the 2015 year, RYSA has determined that
All children up to and including 2002 birth years (grade 7) are required to play in the house league.
The aim of the Development/REP program is to allow as many players as possible the opportunity to develop their skills. However, for out of town games, it may not always make sense to take all the development/rep team players to every game. The coach may need to select a “base” team and take other players as availability allows. It is important for parents and players to realize that playing time will be decided upon by the coach and may not be equal for all players. The house league is designed to ensure equality of playing time.
Practice time will be determined by the coaches.
THOMPSON OKANAGAN YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE (TOYSL)
Teams in the RYSA Development / Rep program play in the Thompson Okanagan Youth Soccer League (TOYSL) and travel throughout the region playing against teams from Vernon, Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Kelowna and Penticton.
In the U11 and U12 developmental division, teams play in “jamborees”. All teams from the region gather in one location and play two scheduled games on Sundays. The U11 and U12 division play small sided soccer with 8 players a side.
Teams in the REP Program (U13 and older) play in a more competitive division playing one game at a time and play full field soccer with 11 players per side.
RYSA must declare its development/rep teams to TOYSL in December – although we need to have an idea of what teams we will have by October 25th 2103.
The TOYSL Leagues season usually begins early April and ends late June.
