Development / REP Soccer - 2019

***Updated for the 2019 Season***

The schedules and scores for the Development and REP programs

can be found on the TOYSL website.

RYSA supports a Development/ Rep soccer program structure where players can be involved in the game at a technical degree that is beyond the regular house program.  The objective of the Development / REP Program is to encourage further skill development within a positive and challenging teaching environment.

Providing that coaches and players are available, RYSA’s goals are to...

    • Support the eight-aside, small field Development opportunities at the U11 & U12 age levels.
    • Support the full-sided, large field, competitive REP program with a combination of U13-U18 players.

What is Rep/Dev Soccer?
Rep and Development Soccer programs provide an opportunity for players to participate at a higher level of training, competition and commitment. This higher level requires an increased time, effort and energy commitment to the team. Play is more competitive with a focus on developing technical skills. Development ages U10, U11 and U12 with the Rep program covering U13 through U18.

RYSA Rep/Dev teams have two options for play:
Teams may join the Thompson Okanagan Youth Soccer League (TOYSL). Teams travel to Salmon Arm, Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton and Kamloops for games April through June. Development teams play a format of soccer known as Jamborees which are “mini-tournaments” held on Sundays. Rep Teams play single games on either day of the weekend.
Teams also have the option of being a tournament team. This would be not playing in a scheduled league but at the Team’s choice entering tournaments throughout the year. For the 2019 season, BC Soccer age groups are:
2009 = U10
2008 = U11
2007 = U12
2006 = U13
2005 = U14
2004 = U15
2003 = U16
2002 = U17
2001 = U18

RYSA may combine age groups for Development/REP teams as necessary.

Team Selection
RYSA aims to form teams that will allow the greatest number of players to play the beautiful game at each level of soccer. Due to our smaller population, RYSA typically has to combine more than one age group to form a team. The RYSA Board and Coaches meet to coordinate the teams following registration. In an ideal world, we would have enough players to form competitive teams throughout, however registration numbers are usually what dictate what our teams will be composed of. Our focus is to create competitive teams where children can learn and develop their skills.
NEW!!! Fall Skills Sessions
This Skills focus program is for all registered 2019 Rep/Dev players from all age groups running for 6 weeks, from September to October . This program is included in registration costs. Kids will be separated into groups by age and skill level. Each week will focus on a different core soccer skill, ensuring kids have mastered the basics then progressing in technique.
Winter Practices
Throughout the Winter, each team practices in a school gym and practices are held once a week. Once teams are determined the Coach will plan practice days and times. Practice is resumed outside in the Spring as soon as the fields are opened by the City.
The full year cost of Rep/Development soccer is $220 per player. The fee is split in two parts: $50 commitment fee plus the remainder of $170. Both payments (cash or cheques) are required at Mass Registration (Wed Sept 5th). The non-refundable commitment fee will assist RYSA in planning teams and gives your child the opportunity to join our 6-week Fall Skills sessions. The remaining $170 can be post-dated for November 1st, 2018. If your child registers and no team is available in their age group, RYSA will refund the $170.
Rep/Dev fees cover player insurance, referee fees, coach fees, equipment, player uniforms, fields fees, photos and House fees (for players 2009 - 2006).
-All players up to U13 must also play in RYSA’s Spring House League program.
-A Rep/Dev uniform kit (shirt, shorts, socks) is included with the Registration fee. Other team gear such as tracksuits and bags are extra.
-Revelstoke hosts the Little Bear Soccer tournament in early September every year.
