Modernity = Scientific Mode of Thinking Displaces Traditional or Supertitious Modes

STI policies should acknowledge and recognize that scientific thinking must make progress over superstitious thinking. Issues of religion should not be conveniently ignored or considered taboo.

Issues of religion are not off-limit to science. Truncating reality does not lead to an adequate understanding of reality. It rather leads to biased or incomplete policies that have little traction on the fundamental working of African societies.

Some of these issues are simply part and parcel of the development problematic, even more so in Africa where the religious landscape is reminiscent of pre-reformation Europe.
