Please join ReUse Industries for the 1st Annual ReUse Competition Exhibition and Awards Cermoney on April 22nd, 2014 4-6:30 pm in Walter Hall, Ohio University-Athens Campus
The 1st Annual Appalachian Ohio ReUse Competition has been a great success so far!
With over 150 entrants have signed up from 13 Appalachian Ohio counties, including professional and amateur artists and tinkerers; elementary, high school, and college students and teachers; youth groups and local arts organizations.
The Exhibition for the event will take place at 4:00 p.m., with the awards ceremony taking place from 6-6:30 p.m. Awards will be given in artistic and functional categories, each with youth and adult/young adult sub-categories.
This event will be held in conjunction with the OU Office of Sustainability’s Earth Day reception including light refreshments, music, speakers, information about local organizations, and the presentation of sustainability awards.
Entries will be judged by:
•Colleen Keough, Visiting Professor of Trans-Disciplinary Art in the OU School of Art and Design
•Faith Knutsen, Associate Director of Operations at TechGROWTH Ohio and ReUse Industries Board Member
•Lauren McCullough, graduate student at OU’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and ReUse Industries Board Member
•Ed Newman, Board member of Athens-Hocking Recycling Inc. and Trustee of the Sugar Bush Foundation
•Kyle O’Keefe, Coordinator of the Appalachian Ohio Zero Waste Initiative at Rural Action
•Susan Urano, Executive Director of the Athens Foundation
