I remember when a trip to the movies got you the main Feature, a B-feature and a couple of cartoons. Looney tunes, Tom and Jerry etc.

As a child my Saturday mornings saw me at the local cinema watching Westerns, Horror and War movies with Science fiction serials such as Flash Gordon.
I don't know whether there were actual children's movies as such but my father used to take me to films that I suspect he wanted to watch and which set my preferences for my own choices.
