We know that ESL folks have our own view of the world, our own taste in books and movies, our own preferences for great restaurants and so on. . . and retirees have a hard time getting together in real time, so this will be our resource 24/7! Send us book, movie or TV recommendations and ideas for a coming event.
It is time to gather again . . . . so, who is inspired and has an idea for us?
Recommendations - books, movies, restaurants, etc.
From Adele Hansen, July 2014
I just finished reading "Saving Fish from Drowning," by Amy Tan. I had never even heard of this book, and it is full of wonderful descriptions of Myanmar (Burma) that remind me of life in Thailand in the 70s. It also includes info about the Karen. It is fiction, but wonderful.
From Rosemary Sharkey, April 2014:
A book that I recommend is "The Fault in our Stars" by John Green.
Another - "The 100-year-old man that climbed out of the window and disappeared" by Jonas Jonasso
From Karen: Lunchbox
