Today corruption in India is institutionalized with political parties, their leaders and bureaucrats amassing wealth in the name of serving the state and the people. Both the scale and sophistication of corruption are increasing with each new government coming to power. All political parties in India have enormous wealth running into thousands of millions of rupees and since all parties are involved in the same dishonest practices, the common man has taken it for granted as if it is the norm. All investigations into corruption are only farcical efforts to fool the general public. Corruption leads many honest persons to dishonesty. Political leaders of all hues and color are indulging in corrupt practices as a matter of right. Today individuals enter politics mainly to amass, sustain and further enhance wealth. This contributes to rampant corrupt practices after the elections when the ruling and opposition parties are obliged to satisfy those who had granted ample funds for elections with privileges, posts and other sources of revenue. In other words, the very democratic process in the biggest democracy in the world kicks off with corruption.
