Thank you for taking the time to express your comments regarding the Segregated Bike Lane Project.

As you may know, the pilot project for the Segregated Bike Lane on Laurier Avenue was debated vigorously at the City’s Transportation Committee on Feb 2, 2011; thirty-eight (38) public delegations were heard on this issue – 19 in favour and 19 opposed.  Afterward, City Council voted to approve the pilot project on February 23, 2011.

I am convinced that city staff will work closely with all interested parties, to try to address issued raised during public consultations.

In closing, council is working hard to balance the competing demands on our transportation system, and I hope that we can make progress on smartly accommodating both vehicles and bicycles as part of this pilot project.

 Again, thank you.

 Sincerely,

 Jim Watson

Mayor

City of Ottawa
