Best practices (ie, combined behavioral support and FDA-approved pharmacotherapy) provide safe and effective treatment for smoking cessation, increasing quit rates by two- to threefold. Encouraging clinicians to utilize such best practices should be a priority. Until more independent data on ENDS safety and effectiveness emerges, clinicians should be advised against routinely recommending ENDS to their patients who smoke.
