WHY ARE THERE TWO NUMBERS FOR SOME TESTS?

Some tests are offered in more than one format – a paper-based test and a computer-based test.  If a test number begins with a ‘0’, it is a paper-based test.  If a test number begins with a ‘5’, it is a computer-based exam.  The candidate may choose from the pair of tests listed for those endorsements and grade levels that list both numbers. The computer-based tests are not available at all testing sites.

Paper-based tests are scheduled to be administered at specific dates throughout the year.  Candidates will receive their scores for paper-based tests a few weeks after the test administration.  Computer-based tests may be taken during specific date ‘windows’, generally five days long.   Candidates may schedule a computer-based test with the testing center at any time during that ‘window’ (check with the testing center for available days and hours).  Candidates learn their scores immediately after taking a computer-based test.
