Weijie was born and raised in Anhui, China. He obtained his B.S. in chemistry in 2010 from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and conducted undergraduate research in Prof. Liuzhu Gong's group on the chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed enantioselective dipolar cycloaddition reactions. He then came to the States for his Ph.D. study. After a short stay at Purdue University, he moved to Rutgers University to work with Prof. Daniel Seidel on the development of new concepts for the C-H functionalization of cylic amines, and obtained his Ph.D in the fall of 2016. Now he joins the Krische group and is working on the transition-metal catalyzed transfer hydrogenative C-C coupling reactions.
