Contributions During Academic Life

I took leadership roles in IIT Bombay and contributed towards the research and academic ethos of the institute. I was awarded the Institute Citation and Department Roll of Honour for my contribution to the Institute.

Tinkerers’ Laboratory

• It is a 24x7 facility for students with an aim to grow innovators and thinkers, converting their creative ideas into actual engineering products.

• Associated with Tinkerer's lab during the establishment phase i.e. setting up the lab, procurement of equipment, etc.

• Tinkerer's lab at IIT Bombay inspired the Atal Tinkering Labs under the Atal innovation mission of the Government of India.

Initiatives to Strengthen Research and Innovation Culture in Higher Education

Students' Reading group, IIT Bombay

• Founded and led the peer-review based initiative to strengthen and enhance the interdisciplinary and collaborative research culture in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay.

• Seeing its impact, it was scaled to five other departments of the institute.

• Mentored five other departments for successful launch and sustainability.

Five Minute Research Challenge: Conceptualised and provided the platform to the students for effective communication of the research topics, in order to promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research. In this challenge, a candidate has to present research problems in five minutes with three slides. Video link

Institute Control Systems and Theory reading group: Considering the fact that control systems theory is common to various disciplines of engineering, launched an institute wide reading group of all the relevant branches to enhance and strengthen the interdisciplinary research.

Disaster management related projects

Policies for disaster risk reduction for Indian Smart cities: Carried out the semester long research at Centre for Urban Sciences and Engineering, IIT Bombay under the supervision of Prof. Krithi Ramamritham to come up with recommendations for disaster resilient smart cities. Communication System for disaster management: Drafted the proposal for SeRWICTA, a self-contained, relocatable wireless communication system based on a tethered aerostat for disaster management scenarios under the supervision of professors at IIT Bombay. The proposal was submitted to DST under the IBSA scheme for grants.

Thoughts about the education system and governance

Education model for the schools of Jammu & Kashmir

Proposed an inclusive activity learning based model for primary school to the district administration of Bandipore, Jammu and Kashmir.
