On January 20, 2012, the MSDE Division of Early Childhood Development was pleased to present its 1st Early Childhood Research Forum on the Towson University campus. This one-day event was designed to make state-of-the-art research on social and emotional learning available to local early childhood researchers, practitioners and policy makers, and to foster a greater sense of community around early childhood issues.
Noted behavioral neuroscientist Adele Diamond of the University of British Columbia delivered the keynote address, speaking on the topic of Executive Functioning in Child Development. Morning and afternoon breakout sessions provided a platform for local researchers Drs. Deborah Perry (Georgetown University), Lisa Berlin (University of Maryland School of Social Work), David Schultz (University of Maryland, Baltimore County), Audrey Cardany (Johns Hopkins University, Peabody Institute) and Alice Ann Howard Gola (Manila Consulting Group).
