STOP is the San Jacinto County, Texas, low-cost spay and neuter program.  It stands for Stop The Overpopulation of Pets.  The program was developed by several concerned citizens, including the director of Adopt Rescue Dogs/Legacy Ranch, because of the overwhelming numbers of stray cats and dogs that roam the county's streets and rural roads.  There are simply too many abandoned and neglected pets to rescue them all, and strays picked up by animal control are most likely to be killed for lack of a home.
To help save the lives of these innocent animals, one day a month is offered by local veterinarian, Dr. Merry Holmes Vann, to perform spay and neuter surgeries for low-income families.  The fees are low, at $50 for spays, and $35 for neuters, and many people have taken advantage of this valuable service.

Appointments must be made through Pat, at 409-782-4041.

Hundreds of surgeries have been performed, saving untold numbers of unwanted dogs and cats.  We are proud of this accomplishment, and will continue to offer reduced fee surgeries as long as there is the need.  Please spread the word to all your family and friends, of the importance of spay and neuter.  Approximately 4 million pets are killed every year for no good reason other than a lack of a home, and we can all help solve the problem of pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering, and adopting from local shelters and rescues.
