Tricks & Tips

If you don't like the screen blanking you can enter the following on your console,

echo -e '\033[9;0]' > /dev/tty0
echo -e '\033[?17;0;0c' > /dev/tty0

This will stop it going blank after a few minutes.

If you want to show something on screen quickly for testing enter the following,

cat /dev/urandom >/dev/fb0

You can blank the screen with this,

cat /dev/zero >/dev/fb0

You can read the Light sensor value (on the back of the frame) with

cat /sys/devices/platform/s3c24xx-adc/s3c-hwmon/adc0_raw
(lower number is darker)

Lastly on the screen side you can do a grab of whatever is on screen with

cat /dev/fb0 >/usr/share/screengrab.raw

This creates a raw binary of the image with 320x240 resolution and RGB 565 colour space. Any image grabbed in this way can be sent back to the screen with

cat /usr/share/screengrab.raw >/dev/fb0
