RESEARCH IN PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE – INTERNATIONAL SCENE

Nowadays, there are several renowned prestige Research Networks in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The most important of them are the followings:

·         AAP - section on Emergency Medicine - Collaborative Research Committee (PEM CRC)

·         Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN)

·         PediatricEmergency Research Canada (PERC)

·        Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative (PREDICT)

·        Pediatric Emergency Research Network

·         Research in European Paediatric Emergency Medicine (REPEM)

In addition to definite targets and methods to achieve them, they all have certain common elements: to carry out a multicenter or multi-institutional pediatric emergency research and to have a clearly defined territorial action, an operating structure, a funding system, a website and different communication skills.

The previous five networks are involved in a more globalized network (Pediatric Emergency Research Networks, PERN), with a worldwide scope of action.
