How it works:
You enter the tournament because you want to compete and have fun!
The player pool is divided into teams of four or five players, depending on the number of players who enter.
The top-rated players will draft players to form the team. For example, the top five players will each be a team captain and choose the rest of their team.
The team chooses a brilliant name.
Teams will play against each other in rating order each week:Â the highest rated player on Team A plays the highest rated player on Team B, etc.
Your team wins the match by having a higher total score than the opponents, or draw if you tie 2-2. Wins are the usual 1 point; draws are the usual 1/2 point.
The same scoring system - teams wins are 1 point; team draws are 1/2 point - is used to establish team standings and what team wins after five weeks.
Entry fee: $20.
Below is the way things were back in 2023, the inaugural year of Reno Chess Club's first team event, an event that celebrates the many veterans in our club and around the world.
