Grand Opening

Stephan Kuttner Institute of Medieval Canon Law, New Haven

May 21-22, 2015
Yale Law School
New Haven, Connecticut

The Stephan Kuttner Institute of Medieval Canon Law moved back to New Haven in the fall of 2013. It already resided there in the 1960s, when Stephan Kuttner was the inaugural T. Lawrason Riggs Professor of Catholic Studies at Yale University. Please come to the Grand Opening on May 21-22, 2015! We will celebrate the return of this outstanding collection of scholarly work on medieval law with an International Conference at Yale University Law School. Mark your calendars, book your airfares and train tickets, and propose a paper by November 15, 2014 to anders.winroth@yale.edu. The theme of the conference is embodied in its title (Cod. 3.1.14, the subject of one of Odofredo’s naughty anecdotes about Bulgarus), which perhaps might be translated as “New and Old in Medieval Law.”

Keynote speakers

Professor emeritus, Dr. Dr. h.c.mult. Peter Landau, Ludwig-Maximilians Universität, Munich

Professor Dr. Richard Helmholz, University of Chicago Law School

Professor Dr. Greta Austin, University of Puget Sound

Welcome to New Haven in May 2015!
