Welcome to Region IV
The 2018 Fair was held on Saturday, March 10th.

Congratulations to all the participants in the 2018 Region IV Science Fair. The top participants win prizes, and the top 40 students move on to the State Science and Engineering Fair at MIT in May.  The top 2 projects move on to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburg Pennsylvania. This year's First place winner was Seo-Hyun Yoo from Lexington High School with her project entitled Blocking Multidrug Resistance in Cancer Cells with MicroRNA Mimics. Second Place was awarded to Vivek Bhupatiraju from Lexington High School with his project: On the Development of Bandwidth Efficient Append-Only Authenticated Dictionaries.

Both projects will move on to the Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair along with 40 other representatives of Region IV.  By finishing in the top two, Seo-Hyun and Vivek also automatically advance to the INTEL
International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburg Pennsylvania.

The 2018 Massachusetts Region IV Science Fair, sponsored by the Tufts University, the Rotary Club of Somerville, Eni Gas (formally DistriGas) and the Somerville School District will be held in the Somerville High School Field House on Saturday, March 10th. The six Regional Science Fairs serve as qualifying competitions for the Massachusetts State Science Fair to be held at MIT in May. At the Region IV Competition the first 43 placements received over $5,000 in awards and advanced to the State Competition where the awards this year will total over $175,000.
