"God's awesome miracle" - concept by Kiwi

I believe (because of scripture and logic) that the "walls of water" were ICE.  Exodus 14 v 22, and 29  below.

Exodus 15 v 8   And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

Psalm 78 v 13

New Living Translation (©2007)
For he divided the sea and led them through, making the water stand up like walls!

English Standard Version (©2001)
He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap
A "Heap" of  "Congealed" water......   Congealed has only one meaning, liquid changing to solid, Congealed liquid water is ice. If the water was still liquid as per so many pictures and paintings envisage, how does that match scripture? Liquid cannot form into "Heaps", not even in a jelly state.

If you don't believe Genesis 1 verse 1, then you may as well not believe the rest of the Bible including Exodus 15 v 8. You may as well not claim to be "a believer" at all, a sad and destructive place to exist.

He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

Isaiah 51:10
10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?
Here is a rendition of a cross section of the crossing that I have done.  Notice how God has REPEATED they were in the midst of the sea, on dry ground, with walls of water....  SEVEN verses apart. Then again in Exodus 15 v 19 God states that the Egyptians were also "in the midst of the sea" as the "waters come upon them" refering in the same verse again that the Children of Israel were in the midst of the sea.

It is very frustrating to see concept drawings of Moses and The Children of Israel walking during the day through shallow parted seas with liquid walls, this is clearly contary to what God has written in scripture.

For the ice dam to hold that depth of water, the base is over 2km wide, add 1/2 to 1 km of dry land in the middle, plus the second wall, is approx 5 km. From the charts of the gulf of Aqaba from Nuweiba due East, you can see that even if the ice dams and dry land totalled a width approx double that, it would be wide enough.

For stability, a natural earth dam regardless of the size, needs to be 3 times wider at the base to the height, ice is considerably stronger.

From the Nuweiba beach to the other side is 13km, the elevated underwater bridge is approx 10km wide.

The Children of Israel had just come down the Wadi Watir, with its 400 to 800 metre walls, I propose the crossing canyon would have looked much the same, if not only a little more uniform. This matches scripture which states God 'congealed' the sea into 'heaps', here is the Wadi Watir canyon but with ice walls....

I have left the truck & trailer on the modern day road to give an idea of scale and size, it really annoys me when I see paintings and concept drawings of 3 - 5 metre high liquid walls and the Israelite's crossing during the day.

"In the Midst" - rendition by Kiwi

Pillar of Fire and Dense Cloud
It states that Moses and the Israelite's walked through during the night, and that in the morning watch (Midnight to 6 am) the Egyptians pursued. The Egyptians COULDN'T pursue until the Pillar of Fire which blocked them to The Children of Israel moved. The Pillar of Fire would of held the Egyptian army in Wadi Watir, with no way out, 400 to 800 metre walls are impossible for chariots and horses, Pharaoh also believes he has them trapped on the beach, so LOGICALLY would camp 15 km up the wadi at at Furtajah Springs, water his horses and army, believing he will "clean" up the Israelite's in the morning.

This is why logically, practicality and Biblically, Nuweiba matches the place name Pa-Hahiroth and The Crossing point, if the crossing was at any other location, the Egyptian army would have simply split in two and sent half one way around the Pillar of Fire, and the other half of the army the opposite way around it, a simple but suicidal military tactic would have being implemented,
Pharaoh would have sacrificed his army as he was furious and wanted the slave nation back.

This wasn't to be though, as The Bible states that the Pillar of Fire came between the two camps, and a dense darkness on the Egyptian camp. Why you may ask? A dense darkness from the cloud and the fact of the high canyon walls of the Wadi Watir. Yes, our God is a God of miracles, but he is also a practical God.
Gods Exciting Miracle

There are so FEW that actually read scripture, the ACTUAL miracle is the fact (and is listed umpteen dozen times by God in His Word...), that God breathed on the water and turned it to ICE... congealed liquid is SOLID liquid...!!

Even in the desert today, the cold night air is used to freeze water, that frozen water is then used for refrigeration the next day.

Fast wind + water = ICE.

If God breathed on the waters....... how fast can He breath???      Or shall we limit God...? NO, very unwise.

When He says He breathed on the water and congealed the depths, it only means ONE thing, and that ONE THING is NOT 50 foot walls of liquid.  BUT as it states, the DEPTHS, which are 765 Metres. With no more than a 6 degree downward and upward slopes, LESS than the requirements for wheelchair access.....

God's miracle was the ice dam's, interestingly it does state in scripture this:
Exodus 14 v 21  And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

Exodus 15 v 8   By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.
In researching natural dam construction and various ice dams around the globe, the Strong East Wind would crystallize or 'seal' the Ice walls on the inside (you can Google the effects of strong wind on ice), strengthening the dam and also stopping seepage of water through the ice, from the tremendous water pressure behind them, especially in the middle.

The children of Israel traversed the 8 miles (13 km ) during the night, as scripture states. Why...? Because that is what it states in The Bible, but also PRACTICALLY, for a few reasons. During the night there is no chance of the heat of the day weakening the walls. During the night it is cooler for animals, children and the elderly. During the night there is less chance of "the fearful" refusing, as the up to 800 metre walls, look similar to the canyon walls in the Wadi Watir in which they had previously traveled.

The downwards slope is no greater than 6 degrees, in the daylight the depth would have been obvious, but at night it would be impossible to comprehend. who if any of the Israelite's would have known the actual depth of the Red Sea at this location? How many would have refused if they could see where they were to go? God knew it had to be at night, all was in His control.

"Congealed Heaps" - concept by Kiwi

Early in the morning, the Egyptians pursuing , no more wind cooling the ice, sun coming up warming and weakening the ice, (no scriptural reference to this; but maybe God in The Pillar of Fire sweeping through also causing weakness in the ice dams....??) seeping occurs, chariots become stuck in mud, wheels fall off.

Exodus 14 v25  Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint, and Syriac read bound

Exodus 14 v 25   He bound their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.”

Early dawn the Egyptians are freaking out and are turning back, the WEST side breaks first, waters rushing towards the Egyptians, drowning and washing bodies up on the EAST shore.

 "Daybreak" - concept by Kiwi

Exodus 14 v 25  He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”  26 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it...

A gold chariot wheel found recently in the Gulf of Aqaba, adjacent to the Nuweiba Beach

Exodus 14 v 30   So the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

Exodus 15 v 1 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: (The music which I know this Scripture to is AWESOME!)

I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
