Coaching Staff

Joe Robinson, 11th Year
Head Coach

Coach Robinson took over the the head coaching duties for the Red Riots hockey team during the 2007-2008 season.  His career record at South Portland is 64-66-4.  Prior to SP he was an assistant coach at Massabesic in 2003-2004 and at Cape Elizabeth from 2004-2007. Coach Robinson has been named Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2013.  During his tenure the Red Riots have been awarded the MPA Hockey Sportsmasnhip Banner in 2009, 2011 and 2012.  He has also served as the Mahoney MS girls soccer coach and is currently the Mahoney baseball coach.

Coach Robinson graduated from South Portland High School (class of 1994) and attended Bridgton Academy in 1995.  He earned his BA in History from the University of Southern Maine in 2014.

While a student at SPHS coach Robinson played ice hockey and baseball.  He also played both sports at Bridgton Academy.

Coach Robinson resides in Biddeford with his wife Jennifer and their two children.

Brandon Wohl
Assistant Coach

Coach Wohl joined the hockey coaching staff as the varsity assistant for the 2014-2015 season, after serving as a volunteer assistant for four years.

Coach Wohl graduated from South Portland High School (class of 2004) and earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine, Orono in 2010.

While a student at SPHS coach Wohl was a four-year member of the varsity hockey team serving at team captain during the 2003 and 2004 season.  He was named Maine 1st team honorable mention (2001-02), Maine 1st team all-state (2002-2003, 2003-2004) and a Travis Roy Award nominee in 2004.  He also played junior hockey from 2004-2006 for the Green Mountain Glades, Full Stride Flyers and Portland Jr. Pirates.  He was also a four year member of the golf team at SP and was named all-state honorable mention in 2003.

Coach Wohl resides in South Portland with his wife Katherine and their son.

Ben Clark
Junior Varsity Coach

Coach Clark joined the hockey coaching staff during the 2014-2015 season.  He graduated from South Portland High School (class of 2004) and earned his degree in Business Management from the University of Maine, Orono in 2009.

Coach Clark was a four-year varsity hockey player at SP, earning all-state honors his senior year and was a four year member of the golf team.

Coach Clark resides in South Portland with his wife Anna.
