The Use and Adoption of Structured Creativity and Problem Solving Methods

Everyday businesses are required to make decisions and solve problems in complex situations where the way forward is not obvious. This can be in any facet of the enterprise and includes issues in technology in terms of product function or manufacture, in the market place in terms of competition, promotion and brand management, in human resources or in finance. The problems are of widely varying scale in size and impact with some being better defined 'hard' operational issues and some being highly fuzzy 'soft' strategic challenges

Colin Reid is engaged on a Doctoral programme at Newcastle University Business School researching how particular creativity toolsets are adopted and used in practice and to consider what conclusions can drawn more generally about the use of structured approaches to problem solving and the deployment of complex methodologies in complex /large organisational environments..
