Woman at the Table

After a moment, you decide to approach the woman at the table in the corner. She looks very nice, dressed conservatively but stylishly, and is somewhere near middle age. She could be a suburban soccer mom. In other words, she looks like you.

Walking up to the table, you introduce yourself.

"I’m Wendy Hill," she says warmly. "Nice to meet you."

How fun, you’ve made your first friend! Her name sounds vaguely familiar, too, but you don’t quite know where you’ve heard it before. No matter. Now that introductions are over, here comes the hard part—small talk.

So what do you discuss?

Industry news.

Personal life.

Your book.
