Issue 62: TreeBristol - tree sponsorship and adoption
Residents of some streets in Bristol who have lost street trees to age or disease - such as residents of Longmead Avenue in Horfield, as reported in Bishopstonvoice Issue 61 - have been raising money through crowdfunding so that their felled trees may be replaced.
Crowdfunding is one way to fund replacement trees, and a news article by Cllrs Tom Brook and Eleanor Combley on page 27 drew attention to a Bristol City Council scheme called TreeBristol as another way to sponsor new trees or to adopt existing ones. For example, a tree could be sponsored to commemorate a birthday or wedding, or as a living memorial to a loved one, with the optional extra of a plaque on the tree with up to seven words.
