Metro Richmond Clergy Committee
For Rapid Transit

The Metro Richmond Clergy Committee for Rapid Transit is prayerfully committed to cultivating civic friendships rooted in faith in order to coordinate congregational involvement and broad-based witness for a metropolitan-wide bus rapid transit system.

The Clergy Committee was formed at Richmond Hill in the spring of 2015 and represents congregations unified across the metropolitan area. New members are always welcome to join in this ministry. Our God-given strength lies in having an informed, diverse, and expansive array of voices calling tirelessly for rapid transit. We pray and work for the day when, in both symbolic and palpable ways, our counties and city will be reconciled and connected via rapid transit for the collaborative and mutual prosperity of all.

        Ultimate Goals
      • A comprehensive and attractive metropolitan-wide bus rapid transit system.
      • The cultivation of inter-congregational relationships, spiritual growth, and racial reconciliation around issues of justice in our region.
        Intermediate Goals
      • The formation of a broad-based congregational voice for BRT.
      • The persistent, public, and strategic expression of that voice around the step-by-step decisions that need to be made for BRT to come to fruition – continued expression of this unified voice until those decisions are finally and fully made.

If you remove the yoke from among you,
the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil,
if you offer food to the hungry,
and satisfy the needs of the afflicted,
then your light shall rise in the darkness
and your gloom be like noonday.

The Lord will guide you continually...
Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorer of streets to live in.
- Isaiah 58:10-12
