About Me

WRITER, TEACHER

I write poems, fiction, and creative non-fiction, meaning that I spend a lot of time sitting at my computer staring off into space, resisting urges to eat Dove dark chocolates.  I took an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and received their Jane Kenyon Poetry Prize.  Over forty literary journals have published my work.

I love teaching my students at Tarrant County College where I help them thrive in the worlds of writing and literature.  Favorite assignment: Make a tattoo for a literary character and explain its significance in 200 words.

Extras: I have skydived once, biked 1300 miles while pregnant, owned a hybrid electric car, and nursed twins.
