We Bring More to the Table

Appraisers can come from many different educational backgrounds - business, science, liberal arts.

Given the financial and legal issues inherent in real estate and related property, a background in finance and law can be extra helpful.

In order to be a Certified General Real Estate Appraisal, one needs a high school diploma, 3,000 hours of appraisal experience, a few hundred hours of licensing education, good character, and the ability to pass a timed exam.

Members of the Appraisal Institute must have a bachelor degree (of any kind), more extensive licensing education, 6,000 hours of appraisal experience, good character, and the ability to pass a more complicated exam.

JMR Real Estate Services LLC brings additional education and skill to the process.  Jon M. Ripans is a graduate of Cornell University, the University of Georgia School of Law, and the Georgia State University Graduate School of Business, with an M.B.A. in Finance.  His legal studies and legal experience were concentrated in the areas of real estate, trusts & estates, corporate, business, and bankruptcy.  Jon's M.B.A. finance classes focused upon valuation issues.  His appraisal experience has added strong research and technological skills to the mix.

These complementary skills have been applied to a wide variety of property types throughout the Eastern United States.

Additionally, Jon's appraisal education includes the following courses:
