Founded in 1975 by a group of people in the Reading area who wanted to volunteer some time to the National Trust countryside sites on Sundays.  We met up on Sundays drawing on people from towns outside Reading as well as those who live in Reading.  We visited various sites in the Thames valley and Chilterns and assisted rangers and foresters on sites as diverse as woodland, estate parkland, downland and heathland.  Tools were provided and instruction is provided on how to work safely.  There were several weekends away at more distant locations.

Those who worked over 40 hours in a calendar year received avolunteer card which gave free access to NT properties and a discount in the shops and cafes.
Sadly due to declining attendances the group decided to cease activities in 2015.

For those who have been involved in the group in the past please let us know if you would be interested in an ad hoc reunion event in 2015.

It is likely there will be an Xmas meal reunion in December and it would be good to see any former active members there.

If there is a group of volunteers who would be interested in restarting the club we would be happy to hear from you.  Contact is chairperson@reading-ntv.org.uk.
