I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Carleton University, Ottawa. I was an undergraduate at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in México and received my Master’s in Economics degree from El Colegio de México and a Master’s in Statistics and PhD in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley (as a Fulbright scholar). From 2000 to 2002 I worked at Banco de México (the central bank of México). My main research interests are international finance and open macroeconomics. I have conducted research on various topics in international macroeconomics, such as the classification and the choice of exchange rate regimes, the openness of the financial account, the demand for international reserves, currency crises, and the inflationary process in Mexico. .
