Spirit Nights are regularly scheduled PTA programs that are designed to bring Rawls Byrd families and children together outside of the school to gather, socialize and have fun all while showing our Penguin Pride. These events are usually held at local businesses which offer a special rate to our families. Occasionally, local vendors will offer the PTA a percentage of the profits from the event rather than offering our families a special rate. These Spirit Nights have the added benefit of generating a small amount of revenue for our PTA, typically between $35-$95. The promotional materials will clearly state when the PTA is benefiting from the event.
The PTA tries to schedule these events on days and at times that don't interfere too much with homework or bed times. However, these events are typically scheduled during the week, rather than on weekends, because that is when most local merchants aren't as busy. Merchants are only willing to schedule a Spirit Night during a day or time when they wouldn't normally have as many customers, therefore they benefits by bringing customers into their business during off-peak times and we benefit by getting a special rate or raising much needed funds.
We hope that you can join us and we thank you for your support!
If you have ideas or suggestions for a fun Spirit Night program, please contact either the PTA President or chair with more information.
