Biodata: Age as on 01--01--2023 : 61 years (DOB: 01-01-1962). Place of birth Karackal (Thiruvalla), relocated to Thiruvananthapuram in 1971. Father (late) Kalathil Narayanan Chellappan, Ex-MWO, IAF.  Mother (late) Punnasseril Govindan Ammini Amma, Ex-Superintendent, Judicial Magistrates' courts.  Married to K.R.Sobha, and  lives at "Surya Kanthi" (permanent  residence) with her and daughters, Anuja Raveendranathan and Aabha Raveendranathan.

Schooling & Higher Education: Completed primary education at government schools at Chengannur and Nedumangad. Highschool was done at St.John's Model HSS, Bethany Hills Nalanchira-695 015. Passed out the SSLC in 1977 March from there in First class with distinction,  Completed Pre-degree course of University of Kerala at Government Arts College Vazhuthacaud-695 014, in 1979 in First class with distinction. 

Engineering Education: Joined the B.Sc.(Engg.) -Electronics and Communication Engineering- course of Kerala University at College of Engineering Trivandrum in 1979. Completed in 1984 in First class with distinction. After joining College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram as Lecturer on 22-06-1988, was deputed for Masters studies at Indian Institute of Science Bangalore during August 1991 to January 1993. Completed the M.E. programme in Electrical Communication Engineering in First Class, specializing in Optical/Computer  Communication. Was a research scholar in the Department of Computer Science, University of Kerala (Faculty of Engineering and Technology) and submitted the thesis on "Analysis and Design of a Neuro-Fuzzy Controller in the Context of Mobile Cellular ChannelEqualizers" and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science was conferred on 22 February 2011.

 Professional Background: Worked as Design Engineer,  Broadcast Transmitter R&D group at Bharat Electronics Limited Bangalore during March 1985 to June 1988. Involved in the design and development of MW/FM Broadcast Transmitters for AIR. Won an award from  the  management for suggesting a new corporate motto: Quality, Technology, Innovation.

Was on deputation to C-DIT Thiruvananthapuram as Deputy Director (TAAS) for one year.  Continued to work as Lecturer at College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram till 1991 August. On completion of the master's studies in January 1993, promoted and posted to Government College of Engineering Kannur as Assistant Professor in April 1994. Transferred to College of Engineering in April 1995. Continued there till August 2001 as Assistant Professor. On promotion, joined Government Engineering College Wayanad on 13-08-2001, as Professor.

       Held the full additional charge of the Principal Government Engineering College Wayanad three terms. Transferred and joined Government Engineering College Barton Hill Thiruvananthapuram on 06-08-2004.  From 30-03-2007 to 28-06-2007, 31-12-2008 to 16-03-2009, 01-01-2011 to 23-01-2011, and 19-03-2011 to 15-06-2011 acted as Principal of the institution with  full-additional charge, apart from the responsibilities of the professor and head of the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Was member of the Board of Governors (BOG) of Government Engineering College Bartonhill, during 31 July 2010-17 September 2011. Worked in Government Engineering College Bartonhill till 17 September 2011. Got promoted as Principal, and joined Government College of Engineering Kannur on 19 September 2011 and continued there till 21 June 2013. Joined LBS Institute of Technology for Women Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram as Principal on 22 June 2013, on deputation and continued till 21 June 2016. Transferred and joined   as Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Dean (Research & PG Studies) College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram w.e.f. 22 June 2016. Held the full additional charge of Principal, College of Engineering Trivandrum during 17 February 2017 to 31 July 2017.  Was functioning as a Professor and Principal at Rajadhani Institute Engineering and Technology, Rajadhani  Hills, Nagaroor (since 07 May 2018) till 30 November 2020.

Publications: Published over 25 papers in national/international level peer reviewed journals/conferences.

The first book on 1/0 Solutions to Problems in  Science and Engineering was published in 1987 while working at Bharath Electronics Limited, Bangalore. Authored  a second (text)  book on  ANALOG COMMUNICATIONS  SYSTEMS: Principles and Practices, published by Universities Press (India) Private Ltd. in February 2008, ISBN: 978-81-7371-620-1. Moreover, volunteered as an adapter of the book ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS 4/e (Authors: Dennis Roody and  Coolen) published in India by Dorling  Kindersley Limited, by January 2008, ISBN: 978-81-7758-558-2. Co-authored and customized a second Text Book on Basic Communication and Information Engineering published by Pearson Education (India) Private Limited, 2009, ISBN: 978-81-317-3188-8.  The third  text book on  Communication Systems Modelling and Simulation Using MATLAB and Simulink, ISBN: 978-81-7371-722-2, was published by Universities Press (India) Limited in June 2011. This work was supported by The MathWorksTM  Inc., USA under their Book Program. Published a book chapter on An Introduction to ANFIS based Channel Equalizers for Mobile Cellular Channels, in Adaptive Filtering and Applications, edited by Lino Garcia Morales, INTECH Web Publishing, 2011, ISBN 978-95-3307-306-4. In August 2013, another book on Neuro-Fuzzy Equalizers for Mobile Cellular Channels was released by CRC Press, ISBN 978-1-4665-8152-4.

Technical Activities:  Include the reviewer ship of two international journals--the journal of the Association of Modeling and Simulation in Enterprises , France (http://www.amse-modeling.com) and Else Vier journal in Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation (http://ees.elsevier.com/cnsns/default.asp). Also volunteers as the reviewer of ICT Academy of Tamilnad Journals.     Peer reviewed the  papers of  the  International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information, and Systems Sciences, and Engineering(CISSE) 2008  and the First International Conference on Control, Communication  and Computing (ICCC2010) held at Thiruvananthapuram  in 2010. Official reviewer of Pearson Education (India) Limited and Universities Press Hyderabad, India for their text books on Signal Processing and Wireless Communication, and Ane Books (India) Private Limited.  Also an active member of the IEEE Kerala Section, since 1994 (https://www.ieee.org). Was the student counselor of the IEEE student branch at College of Engineering Trivandrum  for 6 years (1996-2001). Also is the founder student counselor of the IEEE student branches at Government Engineering College Wayanad and Government Engineering College Barton Hill (http://ewh.ieee.org/sb/kerala/gecb). A member of the executive committee of IEEE Kerala Section (2009-2011) and volunteered as Educational Activities Chair. Acted as the Publications Chair of IEEE RAICS 2011 International Conference held at Hotel Mascot Thiruvananthapuram during September 22-24, 2011.

Acted as a member of the Conference Activities Board (CAB) and Chair of IEEE Signal Processing Society in IEEE Kerala Section. Volunteered as the Publications Chair of 2016 IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS2016) and 2018 International CET Conference on Control, Communications and Computing (IC4). Also was a  member of the panel of Speakers of  IEEE India Council's  National Distinguished Lecture Program (NDLP) on Wireless Communications and Fuzzy Systems.  Life Fellow and Chartered Engineer of IE (India), and Life Fellow of IETE, and Life Member of ISTE,  and Senior Member of IEEE since September 2009. Life Member of International Rough Set Society (IRSS) since 2008. Member of the executive committee of IETE Thiruvananthapuram local centre, and was elected Vice Chairman of the centre during 2010-'12. A member of the Science Advisory Board (SAB) since 18 October 2010. Life member of Computer Society of India since 24 March 2014. Also act as an approved Research Guide in Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, at University of Kerala.
