Challenges

Writing Challenges

Here are the challenges! The name of the award you will win is at the top of each column. To earn each award, you have to write one story for each of the words in the category. Some are nouns (people, places, things), some are verbs or situations, some are adjectives, some are picture challenges! These are all writing challenges. The art challenges will come a bit later. :)

You can combine challenges. However, you can combine a maximum of three challenges. For example, if you want to make a story about Dobby having a nightmare, that would check off an item on two separate challenges. But you cannot do two parts of one challenge. It has to be 10 separate pieces of work for you to get the award!

To email: send all stories and art work to ravenclaw.library[at]gmail.com (replace the [at] with @) In the subject line, put your story's title. At the beginning of the email, please have at the beginning of the email:

Name: (If you want to remain anonymous in the library let me know, but I do need to know your HOL name.)
Brief description of story: (What's it about in 100 words or less.)
Type of writing: (poetry, story, novella, etc)
Rating: (Is it for kids? more for teens?)
Challenges used: (Maximum of 3)

PLEASE REMEMBER: Myself and the librarians reserve the right to do the following!
  • limit the number of submissions we post from you a month
  • deny certain submissions with reasoning
  • put a minimum word count on short stories (500 words minimum)
  • These do not have to be Harry Potter based! You can write about any literature you like (if you want to write some sort of fanfiction) or it can be your own created character!
Do not try to pass off someone else's work as your own. Please submit work you would be proud to have published!

Art Challenges

Art Challenges can be done with any medium. Draw, charcoal, pastels, photography, anything! I would prefer minimal amounts of photoshopping, but I won't say you cannot use it! Please note that art work is your interpretation. For challenges asking you to draw people, you do not have to model it after actual people from movies! Please do not attach any artwork to the email. Upload it elsewhere, and then send it to the library's email. Make sure to include:

Name: (if you want to be anonymous that's fine, but -I- do have to know your name.)
Art medium: (what did you use to create the art?)
Challenges used: (maximum of three)

I do realize some of the writing challenges can be used for art work, and vice versa. If you would like to turn one of the writing challenges into a series of art products, please email the library account. We will consider it and let you know!
