RATTLEBOX
Upcoming gig: Sunday 11th December, The Foundary Arms, Northrepps from 4pm.
Rattlebox are a raucous folk band from Norfolk. We specialise in goodtime rowdy pub music, and can often be found playing at festivals and in pubs around Norfolk. We play a combination of our own songs, traditional songs and even a few contemporary tunes.
Rattlebox were formed in 2007 in the North Norfolk village of Corpusty. We were a group of friends who had a shared love of music, cider and rural life. One late night in The Earle Arms we were talking of past bands we had played in, and in a heady mixture of mid-life crises and alcohol we decided to form a band. And Rattlebox was born.
The name Rattlebox, came from our cider making activities. Norfolk Rattlebox is a rare, local variety of apple. There are only two known mature trees left. The apple has the name Rattlebox because when you shake a ripe one, the pips rattle inside the fruit.
We have gone through a few line up changes in the past few years and now we are a settled five-piece. We are Jo Kerkam (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Rob Moore (vocals, melodeon, melodica, bass, cajon), Jon Simpkin (vocals, ukelele, banjolele), Simon Waller (vocals, bass ukelele, coronet, cajon), Danny Cotgrove (vocals, guitar).
